Description
It can be hard to be self-compassionate towards ourselves. Yet we have no real problems to be compassionate and kind to others. We need to rethink this for optimal health. It’s not that we shouldn’t be kind to others. However, we must also take the time to be kind to ourselves if we are to manage our chronic illness effectively.
When we become chronically-ill, our life becomes difficult. However, by appropriating the fifteen tips I outlined into our life and changing our habits so that we can live better and more self-compassionate lives. Further, we will not only be managing our pain and energy levels, but we will be managing our lives too. We will be more whole and plugged into our reality. Further, we will be more mindful, and we will change our habits so that they reflect our new reality of living with a chronic illness. This my dear friend is progress for all of us.
As chronically-ill individuals, our life doesn’t have to be over. It can start anew with a new reality. Instead of treating ourselves as damaged individuals who are slowing down and will never be the same, perhaps we should treat ourselves as whole individuals who have a few small challenges that can be overcome through effective self-management. It is only with this kind of positive attitude that we can renew our lives and reassess it so that we can live a life that is more suited to who we are now.
Having a chronic-illness is not the end of the world. It is chronic because it won’t kill us. We don’t have a terminal illness that will curtail our lives forever. So, we should live in terms of this knowledge, propelling ourselves forward, and always realizing that our life could be better. And that we can make sure it is by loving every part of ourselves and every day of our lives because life is very precious.
